27 weeks!

From Babycenter.com-

How your baby's growing:

This week, your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with her legs extended. She's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if she were to be born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother her, so just relax and enjoy the tickle.

What's going on with me...

I am still working out as usual. I will start posting my WODs (workouts of the day) and let you all know what I am doing to stay in shape. Today:

"Filthy 50"
50 of each...You must complete all 50 of each exercise before moving on to the next.
Box Jumps
Jumping Pull-ups
Kettlebell Swings
Walking Lunges
Knee to Elbows
Push Press
Back Ext.
Wall Balls
Burpees
Double Unders

Took me 37 minutes: had to sub knee ups for knees to elbows, all the rest I did.

Next Monday 2/8 and Tuesday 2/9 we are going to work on getting Caden Ansley's room ready- so far the room has been cleaned out and ready for all her stuff. What needs to be done: Prime walls, paint, pick out vinyl sticker (I have it narrowed down to 12), put together crib/dresser and start putting away her clothes.

But first...HALF MARATHON SUNDAY 2/7! I am really looking forward to it and am excited to say DJ is going to run it with me. I need to go pick up a belly band and a water fanny pack thing (I have no idea what it is called, but it looks like a fanny pack but holds 2 water bottles on either hip, plus a snack. Can anyone recommend one? I am looking for something not too bulky and light.

Baby Girl has a name...

It's official. DJ and I have been throwing names out there for some time and got quite a few responses. However, we decided to go back to the drawing board and have come out with something new. So, I am please to announce, after hours in the baby books, on-line and deliberation, we are going to name her- CADEN ANSLEY. I think she likes it!

Ok to RUN

Dr. has confirmed everything is fine for me to participate in the half marathon Feb 7th! All the lab work went well this morning, should hear back about the GD testing soon- but I am not worried about it. I have a gained a total of 20 pounds, but the Dr. isn't worried about it, so neither am I! To be honest, I have no idea where the 20 pounds is! I feel comfortable in my size, workout regularly and do not use "I am pregnant" as an excuse to eat whatever I want (...well I don't do it everyday).

DJ and I think we have narrowed down our little girl's name but want to keep saying it at home before we announce just to make sure this is it. Granted we know we could wait until she comes, and I know quite a few people do that, but both of us want to get used to her name, talk to her saying her name and have her get used to it as well. According to some books and friends, babies can hear while they are in the womb and associate with their names sooner when the parents had given them their names in the womb. Let's see if this makes her a better listener!

25 Week belly shot...

25 Weeks!

From babycenter.com

Head to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. Her weight — a pound and a half — isn't much more than an average rutabaga, but she's beginning to exchange her long, lean look for some baby fat. As she does, her wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and she'll start to look more and more like a newborn. She's also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture.

No more fruit references...on to veggies!

Willing to take suggestions...

I have been sleeping horribly~ I have tried everything "What To Expect When You're Expecting" says to do about leg cramps, but nothing is working. I am working out, drinking tons of water (haven't had soda or coffee since July '09), taking vitamins and eating kiwis (potassium). I woke up 7 times last night with cramps!! Help!!

Half Marathon Feb. 7th

24 weeks pregnant and making CRAZY decisions! So, it's not crazy to me, though I am sure some of you are going to be concerned. But...I have decided to run in a half marathon pregnant. The run takes place February 7th (in Davis, Ca) which will make me 28 weeks pregnant exactly. I have done A LOT of reading and based on what I have read, the training I have done at CrossFit, my Dr.'s approval and my stubborn attitude- this is completely do-able. So first thing to do is buy a heart monitor (or find someone who will loan me one). I have decided not to do any extra running and will not plan on "training" for the event. Rather, like many CrossFit articles, I am going to rely on what I have learned at CrossFit and put it to the test (CrossFit prepares you for ANYTHING; including a half marathon pregnant). As long as my heart rate stays normal, the baby and I will be fine. Should it increase, I will walk...my goal is to just finish.

For those of you that do not know, a half marathon is 13.1 miles. I participated in a 10K (6.21 miles) on Thanksgiving and a 5K (3.11) the week before. I feel completely confident and healthy in doing this run and hope all of you will support me. I am lucky in that some close friends from the gym (who have experience running a half marathon) are going to run with me and encourage me along the way. I am not doing this "for time" or to win any sort of prize. I am doing it because I feel great, because I want to tell my daughter I was strong while I carried her, because my daughter will one day be proud of her mother and I want to check it off my long list of "things to do" (mind you, I will do it again and get a faster time NOT PREGNANT, one day!)

I am following a blog called "Marathon Mommies" and getting tons of information and support. There are women who have run farther and much further a long in their pregnancies then I plan too.

I am excited.

Next Appointment January 21st- 2 1/2 weeks before the half marathon.

What's sleep?!

I expected sleeping to get cut short when the baby arrived, but I didn't think I would be having so much trouble now!

Baby Girl likes to play, around 11pm! She plays for just a little over an hour, almost every night. I try to prompt her to play earlier in the evening, but she doesn't care what I want. I am also awakened by leg cramps (mostly right leg) and frequent potty breaks. I guess I am prepping myself for those late night feedings and diaper changes...

I feel like I have had a relatively easy pregnancy so far; guess every day is different. What I didn't get in morning sickness, I am getting in leg cramps and a late night partying! If it weren't for ultrasounds I would swear she had 8 arms!

23 Weeks!

Logan Avery Joseph appears to have won at the polls but we aren't 100% yet. We are really hoping to narrow something down this month!! I am feeling fine, no pains or discomfort. Still working out as usual and really enjoying it. My biggest trouble lately is rolling out of bed! It's a bit hard to roll sideways with a bowling ball on your stomach! Chocolate milk is my favorite thing! I don't go crazy if it's not here but I usually have a glass in the morning and maybe one in the afternoon/night. I can still fit into some regular jeans and wear mostly maternity shirts or size medium for comfort. Working at the gym has its advantages! Nike sweat pants and t-shirts! Have another appointment on the 21st of this month along with the GD test, wish us luck.

How your baby's growing:

Turn on the radio and sway to the music. With her sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance. And now that she's more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango), you may be able to see her squirm underneath your clothes. Blood vessels in her lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing her for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as your dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze her when she hears them outside the womb.
